Elite Highway Accident: Traffic at standstill after tanker accident

 Traffic Chaos on Elite Highway

Traffic on Elite Highway has come to a grinding halt following a tanker accident. This incident has left commuters searching for alternative routes and answers about the situation.

 Tanker Collision Causes Spillage

The accident occurred at KM1.2 Southbound, stretching from Shah Alam to Seafield. It resulted in a minor spillage, and authorities had to close the Shah Alam intersection for cleanup operations. This sudden closure caused a massive traffic backup, with vehicles being diverted to other roads to ease congestion.

 Efforts to Clear the Mess

PLUS Malaysia swiftly responded to the situation, assuring the public that measures were being taken to clean up the spillage and reopen the affected lanes. In a Facebook post, they urged commuters to plan their journeys and consider using the Federal Highway as an alternative route to reach Elite Highway.

 Extensive Traffic Delays

On Friday evening, @PLUSTrafik reported significant traffic congestion along several stretches of the road network. The North Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) experienced one-kilometer backups in both directions, both before and after the Shah Alam Toll Plaza. Additionally, there were five-kilometer jams in each direction after entering the toll plaza and a whopping 14-kilometer gridlock in each direction along the Elite Highway.

 Delays Affecting All Commuters

This traffic snarl has affected commuters traveling in both northbound and southbound directions. The situation has become particularly dire around the Shah Alam Toll Plaza, with motorists experiencing extensive delays. For those heading north on the Elite Highway, a 14-kilometer stretch is clogged with vehicles.

 Alternative Routes Advised

To avoid these traffic woes, commuters are strongly advised to plan their routes carefully. Taking the Federal Highway into account as an alternative route to access Elite Highway is a wise choice at this time.

 Road Closures and Maintenance

Authorities have taken steps to address the situation. The highway section from Subang to Seafield remains completely closed, while a contraflow lane allows access from Shah Alam toll plaza, Setia Alam/Bukit Raja to Seafield. Road maintenance and repairs are currently underway, necessitating these closures. Authorities have assured the public that they are working diligently to expedite repairs and minimize disruptions.

 Stay Informed

To stay updated on the status of road closures and ongoing repairs, travelers are urged to keep an eye on traffic announcements. This will help them navigate the challenging traffic conditions caused by the tanker accident.
